I’m not sure I agree that the film is better than the music. But they both definitely benefit from each other. I found the movie far more enjoyable than I thought I would, thanks to the performances of Douglas and Matthau. Oh, and Jerry. ;)

Yep, that’s right, the film is better than the music! But that doesn’t make the music a disappointment in any way. Jerry is always fun, even sad cowboys are fun.

I only feel sorry from a financial standpoint. But not from the joy you’ll experience when you listen to this.

And thanks for using words like “tantalize” and “cast a spell.” That’s exactly what I try and do in my reviews. I don’t want to give away the farm but just provide enough information for the reader to explore the score further and make up his/her own mind for themselves.

In this case, I don’t think you’ll be disappointed. Make sure you buy/Netflix the DVD as well.

Curse you, Jim! You’ve done it again.

I’ve managed to hold out on buying this, even though I kept visiting the Varése sight and noticing that it was down to less than 500 copies. I exerted such self control and samurai-like discipline!

But then you have to go and tantalize me like this, and cast a spell on me that led my browser to the Varése site and ordered the CD for me!

You run a dangerous operation here, Jim. A real dangerous operation.
